Founded by Solomon Okello, who is originally from the Nwoya district in Uganda but moved to Kampala after almost all of his life in the city of Gulu (formerly Gulu District) in Uganda.
Always with friends, colleagues and family members; Solomon realized that someone would ask if anyone knows someone who driving to certain destinations. Sometimes these people either want to ride or send a package.
People spend hours looking for cheaper and much easier ways to travel or send packages. So we asked ourselves, what a great idea it would be to have drivers and bringing riders together in a private environment for easier and safer journeys to their destination. You can use up the empty seat of your car that would otherwise remain unused if only the driver were to use the car . Workmates, event goers, families, students, companies and drivers can use the service to go to local restaurants, work, school, events and road trips.
And that's how Whirl came about.
